Frequently asked questions

How many ounces is 100 grams?

3.527 ounces. Other useful anchors: 250 g = 8.82 oz, 500 g = 17.64 oz, and 1 kg = 35.27 oz — just over 2 lb 3 oz.

What's the difference between an ounce and a troy ounce?

The everyday (avoirdupois) ounce is 28.3495 g and is what food, post and general goods use — it's what this converter uses. The troy ounce, used for gold, silver and other precious metals, is 31.1035 g. A "1 oz" gold coin is therefore about 10% heavier than an ounce of anything else, which matters a great deal at spot price.
