One converter for the conversions that actually come up: length (cm ⇄ inches, km ⇄ miles), weight (kg ⇄ lbs, stone), temperature (°C ⇄ °F ⇄ K), digital storage (MB ⇄ MiB — they're different!), US cooking volumes, and speed. Results update as you type, with a swap button to flip direction.
Frequently asked questions
Why do MB and MiB give different numbers?
A megabyte (MB) is 1,000,000 bytes; a mebibyte (MiB) is 1,048,576. Storage marketing uses decimal MB while operating systems often report binary MiB — which is why a "500 GB" drive shows as ~465 GiB.
How exact are the conversions?
Definitions are exact where standards define them exactly (1 inch = 2.54 cm, 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg) and results display up to six significant decimals.
Are US or UK measures used for volume?
US customary — cups, pints, gallons and fluid ounces are the US versions (a UK pint is about 20% larger). Metric units are universal.
